Financially independent family member of road accident victim also entitled to compensation : SC

A bench of Justices A M Khanwilkar and Dinesh Maheshwari set aside the verdict of Punjab and Haryana High Court which had held that children of the deceased, who are earning themselves would not be entitled for compensation. The apex court held that liability to pay compensation under the Motor Vehicles Act does not cease because of absence of dependency of the legal representative.
